Lore & Background
Columbina is a hauntingly beautiful ballerina doll who performs on the circus carousel. Unlike the other performers who seem to retain some semblance of their former humanity, Columbina appears to be almost entirely artificial. She moves with jerky, unnatural grace, her joints visibly ball-and-socket, and the sound of porcelain clicking together accompanies her every step.
She represents the "innocence lost" theme of The Freak Circus. Her eyes are wide and glass-like, reflecting the horrors she witnesses without emotion. She never speaks, communicating only through dance and the tinkling sound of a music box that seems to follow her.
Day 2 Revelation
Players who explore the "Backstage" area in Day 2 may find a diary belonging to a girl named "Clara." The handwriting in the diary matches the scratches found near Columbina's stage. The entries describe a girl who wished to be "beautiful forever" and "never grow old," a wish that the Ringmaster granted in the most horrific way possibleโby turning her into a living prop.
Personality & Role
Columbina is passive and observant. She does not attack the player directly but serves as a warning of what happens to those who make deals with the circus. However, in certain routes, if the player shows her kindness (such as fixing her music box), she may intervene to save them from a fatal trap.
Her existence is a tragic loop of performance and silence. She is the doll that everyone admires but no one saves.
